Product Description

Hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose:

A series of cellulose derivatives are synthesized from natural cellulose by alkalization and etherification under certain conditions. They are products substituted by hydroxyl groups on cellulose molecular chains.

Physicochemical properties:
1. Aqueous solution has surface activity, high transparency and stable performance. The solubility varies with the viscosity. The lower the viscosity, the greater the solubility. The properties of HPMC with different specifications are different. The apparent solubility of HPMC in water is not affected by the PH value.
2. HPMC decreased with the decrease of methoxy group, the gel point increased, the water solubility decreased, and the surface activity decreased.
3. HPMC also has thickening ability, low ash content, PH stability, water retention, excellent film forming, and extensive enzyme resistance, dispersion and so on.

Main uses:

1. In building construction, it is mainly used for external wall insulation system, insulation mortar, decorative mortar, masonry mortar, self-leveling mortar and so on. It is suitable for centralized dry mixing and premixed mortar with thickening, water retention, film forming and cohesion. It can improve construction performance, slip resistance and slurry;
2. In decorative construction, it can be used to paste ceramic tiles, marble, etc. with high viscosity and strength, and can also reduce the amount of mud used;
3.  It can be used for plastering gypsum, water-resistant putty, bonded gypsum, seam mortar, cement-based plastering, etc. It can significantly improve its water retention, bonding strength, and has the characteristics of good flexibility, non-cracking and so on;
4. As a thickener in the coating industry, the coating can be bright and delicate, without dedusting, and improve its leveling;
5. In other fields, such as petrochemical, construction, printing and dyeing, tobacco, daily chemical, paper-making, leather, agriculture and forestry, etc., it is widely used as thickener, binder, water-retaining agent, film-forming agent, emulsifier, excipient and so on.

Usage method:

1. Rapid dissolution: HPMC can dissolve in water and some organic solvents under continuous stirring. For example, rapid dissolution, the following methods are recommended:

(1)    When the required water is heated to above 80 C, the product is gradually added under continuous stirring. Cellulose is gradually dispersed in the water, swelled into slurry, and cooled by stirring until the solution is transparent, that is, it has been dissolved completely.
(2)    Heating the required amount of water to above 80 C, continuously stirring and adding the product to obtain slurry shape, then adding the remaining amount of cold water, stirring to transparent can be done.
2. Making porridge mother liquor for use: HPMC is first made into high concentration porridge mother liquor (the method is the same as the top to the slurry), when used, add enough cold water and continue to mix until transparent.
3. Dry mixing: Because HPMC has excellent compatibility, it can be easily mixed with cement, gypsum powder, pigments and other dry mixing, and achieve the desired results.
