PAC appears to be white or light yellow powder, which is odorless and non-toxic. It's soluble in cold or hot water. when it solutes, some colloidal solution will appear, which is neutral or slightly alkaline. the important feature of PAC is that it can form colloid solution with high viscosity, many factors influencing its viscosity are concentration, PH, temperature, substituted ratio and salts, etc.

Performance and characteristics of PAC:
PAC products are divided into two kinds that are with high viscosity(HV) and low viscosity(LV). It owns high purity, high substitution degree and the distribution of its substituent group is even, etc. It appears as white and fluxible powder. Its water solution is transparent sticky liquid. It can dissolve quickly in cold or hot water. It can be used as thickener, rheology control agent, adhesives, stabilizing agent, protective colloid, suspending agent and water retention agent.

PAC Advantages:
PAC has good heat stability, salt resistance and antimicrobial resistance. As the mud fluid formulated by PAC has good fluid loss, suppression, high temperature resistance, PAC is widely used in oil drilling, especially in salt water wells and offshore oil drilling.


1. High degree of substitution: The D.S value is 0.85-1.4.

2. Thermal stability: Its aqueous solution performs stable below 80°C. When the temperature is close to 150°C, it can still show a certain viscosity for about 48h.

3.Salt, acid and alkalis resistance:

PAV has a stable performance when PH value ranges from 3-11, and can be applied in various kinds of extremely harsh environments.

4. Good miscibility: It is compatible with other cellulose ethers, water-soluble gums, softeners, resins, etc.;

  Gradually shows oil-soluble when its D.S value exceeds 1.2

5. Good solubility: It can be quickly dissolved in cold water and hot water with simple stirring equipment; hot water dissolves faster; instant PAC can be fully dissolved in a few minutes, greatly improving the convenience of use And production efficiency.

6. Good stability: 

PAC aqueous solution has light stability, longer shelf life; strong anti-bacterial properties without fermented.

7. Extremely low usage amount:

For its high stability and high degree of substitution, the usage amount of PAC only equivalent the 30% to 60% of carboxy methyl cellulose (CMC) in the same using conditions. It reduced the company's cost by a certain extent. 

8. Green and environmental- friendly

The main raw material of polyanionic cellulose (PAC) is refined cotton, which has no pharmacological effect, physiologically harmless and its producing process is environmentally friendly.

9. Deep well drilling operation

Polyanionic cellulose can be used for oil drilling operations at high temperature in deep well.
